I'm glad to know it made a difference, Alan. But you see, though I myself sponsor a child I am always waiting in anticipation until I get a letter from him. I feel through that letter as if what I’ve done has reached him. That he knows I’m there.

To know and feel you've made a difference are two separate things. I know and hope that what I send him reaches him. But through his letters I feel the difference. And since I have yet to meet him, feeling the difference means the world.

As for kindness and repayment - a true act of kindness never requires payment because it is something done from the heart not the mind.

I personally know it makes a real difference in childrens lives......... growing up as a child, my sister and I were sponsered by an american and it made it possible for my mother to provide food and some shelter for us.
That was many many years ago but still I have to believe that the aid still reaches those in need.
I don't know if it's self denial but many people think their money never reaches those children so they never pledge and committ. But it does. That american man supported us for many years.
One can never repay such kindness.
